PVC, of which vinyl siding is made, is more durable than its wood prototype, keeping external appearance, thanks to using a surface pattern imitating wood texture. Long-term trouble-free usage is ensured by resistance to changing weather conditions (humidity, low and high temperatures, solar radiation, wind), biological factors (insects, mould) and most chemicals.
Facade durability is additionally ensured by the construction of panels itself – a specially profiled edge at mounting holes additionally locks fastening screws. This construction is called “hurricane resistant” and it protects a panel against tearing away from the building wall, even during very strong wind.
Tests, performed by independent institutes*, show that the use of vinyl siding (as well as other types of facade cladding made of polymer plastics), due to very long lifetime, transport easiness and recycling possibility, has significantly less negative impact on environment than the use such materials as wood or brick.
